Plus Size Guide to Summer

Your size does not limit your style.

Sometimes it could be difficult to find the right fit and color for you. Where your thighs and mid-waist are not awkwardly bulging, making sure your dress is the right length so that it doesn’t make you larger on the sides, and worrying that a color that you want to try doesn’t make you look even bigger.

When it comes to colors, just make sure your skin-tone matches so that it doesn’t wash you out. You can honestly wear whatever color you so please, it’s the fit that truly matters. Always go with curvy fits, since it accentuates your figure. Straight clothing will make you look boxy and huge. High-waist is a must because it cinches in your waist, showing off your figure.

If your bottoms are flared, such as an A-line skirt or palazzo pants, wear a tight-fitted shirt. You want to avoid looking boxy as much as possible by accentuating features of your body when others are covered.

Bandeaus, crop tops, and sleeveless shirts? Um yeah! It’s summer, so show a little skin. I mean, everyone is doing it. It doesn’t matter what size you are, show off your figure and enjoy the heat. The only con to these pieces are the awkward tan lines, but what is a summer look if not completed by tan lines?

Also, that bikini you’ve been eyeing, but scared to wear? Be bold and just do it. Summer is all about being bold and challenging yourself. To some, wearing lime green is a challenge, while to others, any bikini is their biggest fear. Remember, go high-waisted. If not, then there’s bikini dresses that cover-up most of the awkward parts we hate while still looking sexy. Believe it or not, black is not the only thing hiding awkward bulges, prints do a great job at that too. So wear that bold-printed bikini because you’ll find that you actually do not look bad in it. You’ll also find that no one cares because everyone, no matter what size, have awkward parts.

Challenge yourself this summer and own your look. Whether it’s at the beach, the mall, or chilling with family and friends - be bold. Own your look and show others that queens come in all shapes and sizes.
